Old-World Ingenuity Meets 21st Century Design
Every Silverstein ligature includes these standard features:
- HARMONIC PARTIALS: The first thing you will notice is how free the reed becomes, resulting in increased harmonic partials for depth of sound.
- 2ND EVOLUTION CORD: Improved cord technology results in a thinner thread for even less contact and pressure on the reed.
- TONAL CONTROL: New fine tuners change how the ligature responds to the vibrations of the reed, tuning the focus and color of your sound to give unprecedented control and flexibility.
- SOUND ADJUSTMENT: The nut regulates tension on the cord. By tightening less, the reed vibrates more for a darker sound.
- PRECISION FIT: Easily customize the ligature using a standard hex wrench.
- HAND-FINISHED: The elegant design and craftsmanship speaks for itself.

I heard of these ligatures after watching Marcus Strickland play them on all of his horns. His tone is lovely, so I decided to check them out.
I first bought one for my tenor. I was BLOWN AWAY by the difference in my sound. I tested it out by just playing on the mouthpiece. The sound was so much richer, fuller, better. And the ligature gives you a great deal of control over how concentrated or loose you want your sound to be.
Having fallen in love with my first buy, I got a second one for my alto. Similar to my first experience, this one HIT IT OUTTA THE PARK. Great ligature.
I cannot recommend these enough. They’re well-made, pretty, and, most importantly, they make my horns sing.
Silverstein also has exceptional customer service. Richie Cruz really helped me out when my ligature was a bit too small.
Do yourself a solid and grab a Silverstein ligature.

I love the ligature – I find it slighten darkens my sound which I am very happy about, while completely balancing the sound and tones from high to low on the instrument. It also helps make the altissimo range easier to play.

changed my playing completely!!!

On my system this ligature is outstanding. The ***** reed is held without excessive force, which has been problematic with other ligatures on my mouthpiece. My tone has not perceivably changed (I didn’t expect it to); however, the reed is more free blowing allowing the use of harder reeds. This ligature was worth the extra cost.
