Wow! How have I not owned one of these until now?!? I’m a full-time gigging sax player and I’ve stepped on and broken more mouthpiece caps than I care to remember. I’ve also got a drawer full of mouthpiece caps that only fit certain mouthpieces and ligatures and are therefore unused most of the time.
After being fed up with breaking mouthpiece caps on dark stages, I recently decided to invest in two OmniCap II mouthpiece caps and after just one gig, I realised I’d made one of the smartest investments in my sax-playing career. The OmniCap II fits all of my alto and tenor mouthpieces and it’s NOT GOING TO BREAK IF I STEP ON IT! It’s small enough to put into the pocket of my dress pants and not cause an unsightly bulge and it fits my mouthpieces snugly.
I live in Australia and with the international postage and poor exchange rate, buying two of these caps wasn’t cheap but they’re worth every dollar. I only wish I’d thought to buy another one for my Yamaha WX5 wind controller because I’ve stepped on and broken a few caps for that, too!
I highly, highly recommend the OmniCap II and it’s easily a 5-star rating from me.
