The reed plays as is. However, bassoonists will need to further adjust the reed to achieve maximum performance. As each bassoonist has unique demands of playing style and embouchure, we decided to only offer UNFINISHED reeds so that each player may uniquely customize a perfect reed.

There is no difference in finishing AMBIPOLY bassoon reeds compared to cane, except that AMBIPOLY has a harder density. Conventional reed tools including sandpaper, reed knife and tip cutters may be used. When adjusting the wires, be careful not to put too much pressure into the wires, which may cause leaks on the sides of the reed. Such leakage can be sealed with any fish-skin-style tape. Please feel free to adjust the reed in your own personalized way — scraping and clipping will NOT void the warranty nor the eligibility for the 14-Day No Hassle Product Purchase Guarantee.

• Do not bite too strong for too long.
• Rinse the reed with clean water and let dry after playing to prevent saliva plaque (mouthwash may also be used).
• If you are a heavy user, we recommend to rotate between two reeds. A 24-hour resting period will fully rejuvenate the reed.
