The Italian clarinetist Matteo Tartaglia, born in 1988, has studied with François Benda since 2012 in Basel, Switzerland.
In his career he was awarded in many national and international competitions like the XI International Clarinet Competition “Città di Carlino” and the 8th International Competition “AudiMozart” in Italy, the 1st Béla Kovács International Clarinet Competition in Hungary and was invited to the 67th Prague Spring International Music Competition in Czech Republic.
He has had also many orchestral experiences like having the opportunity to play as an extra player in the Orchestra of the “Arena di Verona”, OSI (Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana), Musikkollegium Winterthur, Opéra-Orchestra Theatre de Limoges et du Limousin, was the Praktikant for the season 2015-2016 in the Berner Symphonieorchester (Bern, Switzerland) and in July 2016, he won the Co-Principal Clarinet position for the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra in China starting in October 2016.
