Imsoo Lee
Imsoo Lee is a soloist, chamber musician, former co-principal clarinetist of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, a graduate of the Seoul National University’s School of Music, a Diploma of Music graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) and also a visiting professor at USC.
As the first prize winner of the 23rd Dong-A Competition, Imsoo Lee has continued to be the honoree of many prestigious awards such as Ye-Eum Award, and the Bruce Zalkind Memorial Endowment Award.
In 1992, he was selected as one of Korean’s leading musicians representing the 21st century by Shin Dong-A magazine.
Imsoo has given solo performances in Los Angles, Seoul, Berlin, Beijing, Portugal and many other international venues.
As a soloist with orchestras such as the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, China Central Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Kangnam Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Chungnam Philharmonic Orchestra among others.
Imsoo was also invited to performed at numerous world music festivals such as the I.C.A ClarinetFest of Texas, Belgium, New Orleans, Tokyo, Atlanta and International Clarinet Festival of Porto in Portugal, Brisbane in Australia and Tama in Japan.
Imsoo has also had a recital and master class at Beijing International Clarinet Festival, Taiyen International Clarinet Festival and Chongqing international Clarinet Festival.
Currently, he is a professor of Dongduk Women’s University, sponsored as a performing artist for Selmer, Paris and the chairman for Korea of the I.C.A. You can find his released solo albums from labels such as Summit, Sinnara and Aulos.
