BIO
Italian born clarinetist Lorenzo Dainelli is currently member of the Karajan-Akademie of the Berlin Philharmonic. Between 2017 and 2018 he held the position of PRINCIPAL SOLO CLARINET in the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Sinfonieorchester in Germany.
Lorenzo studied under the guidance of Wenzel Fuchs at Universitӓt Mozarteum Salzburg and Alessandro Carbonare at Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 2018 he’s been awarded by the prestigious Accademia Chigiana (Siena) with a H.C. Degree, rarely granted to artists of outstanding quality. He graduated with full honors at the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Verdi in Milano, where he studied with Luigi Magistrelli. He’s currently perfecting under the mentorship of Wenzel Fuchs, Andreas Ottensamer and Alexander Bader.
He made his debut as a soloist at the age of 16 with University Symphony Orchestra in Milan. Since then his solo appearances include Weber op.73 and 74, Mozart Concerto kv622, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante Kv 297b, performing along with orchestras such as Berlin sinfonie Orchester and Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker.
He collaborated with Berlin Philharmonic, DSO Berlin, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome), Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken, Orchestra del Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Kiel Philharmonisches Orchester, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali (Milano). He performed under the baton of renowned conductors and together with musician as Kiriil Petrenko, Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniele Gatti, Tugan Sokhiev, Gianandrea Noseda, Jakob Hrusa, Enrico Bronzi, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Nikolaj Luganskij, Ennio Morricone, Christian Thielemann, Jan Vogler, Marko Letonja, Quentin Hindley, Daniele Rustioni, Patricia Kopatchinskaja..
Hailed as a “clever, exciting clarinet player, with great musicality and an outstanding quality of sound” (Christian Frattima, Artistic Director at Orchestre Coin du Roi), he performed in the most renowned concert halls in Europe and North America such as Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, Salzburg Festspielhaus, Wiener Musikverein, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Herkulessaal in Munich, Glazunov Hall in St. Petersburg, Grand Théâtre de Provence, Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome, Auditorium Toscanini in Torino, Sala Verdi in Milano, and yet in Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Denmark.
He got selected to attend courses with Richard Stolzman, Charles Neidich, Ricardo Morales, Sharon Kam, Calogero Palermo, Patrick Messina, Philippe Cuper, Mate Bekavac. Member of the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée (Aix-en-Provence) working with musicians of London Symphony Orchestra, he was also selected for the 2017 Summer orchestral institute of Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at Whistler (British Columbia). His recordings include Mozart Gran Partita KV 361 and Mozart divertimenti KV Anh. 229/439b (Deutsche Grammophon, 2022), Mozart Quintet KV 581 (Mondadori, 2013) and a selection of Dallapiccola’s works (LimenMusic, 2016).
