Born in Hungary, the clarinettist grew up in a musical family and played already as child in the brass ensemble of his hometown. After starting his studies in Hungary, László Kuti moved to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where he continued his education with Béla Kovács and later with Gerald Pachinger. László Kuti won the Concertino Praga International Music Competition and appeared as a young musician in Prague, Vienna and Graz. After completing his studies, Kuti went to Japan as principal clarinettist of the newly founded Hyogo Performing Arts Center Symphony Orchestra. Here he was able to gather valuable orchestral experience for three years under the direction of Principal Conductor Yutaka Sado, before transferring to the Berlin Philharmonic and his mentor Wenzel Fuchs as a scholar of the Karajan Foundation. Since 2009 László Kuti is the principal clarinettist of the Munich Philharmonic and a permanent guest of the Berlin Philharmonic, DSO Berlin, Staatskapelle Dresden and Camerata Salzburg, working with all famous conductors of our time.
As a soloist, the artist is sought after internationally and critically acclaimed. In October 2018 he played the A major clarinet concerto by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with the Munich Philharmonic under the baton of Krzysztof Urbański.
In recent seasons, he enthused the audience playing the Clarinet Concerto in F minor by Carl Maria von Weber with the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra in China. He appeared as a soloist at the Pacific Music Festival Sapporo, played a highly acclaimed solo concert with the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra and performed two recitals as part of the Beijing Clarinet Festival.
In the spring of 2019 a solo recital and master classes took him to the Wordfees Festival of Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
In addition to his work in the Orchestra Academy of the Munich Philharmonic, László Kuit teaches as a clarinet tutor at the Orchestra Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic in Ossiach. Frequently he is giving masterclasses at well-known universities in China, Korea, Japan, Germany, Hungary and Austria as for example at the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo and the Conservatory of Beijing.
His artistic partnerships as a chamber musician include work with Mitsuko Uchida, Herbert Schuch, Radek Baborák and his ensemble, as well as the Sellheim-Kuti Trio at well-known festivals all over the world.
